Job PurposeThe Lead Engineer will develop and maintain standards, policies, procedures, work methods, operating procedures and material specifications relevant to Transmission work, in order to ensure they are in line with strategic business objectives and in compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
Key AccountabilitiesWork closely with operations personnel to assure National Grid construction standards and procedures are implemented on the overhead system, 69kV and above.
Manage operational process activities in order to achieve high productivity, low costs and efficient work practices and to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and National Grid policies and proceduresWork with process teams and other business units to translate objectives into well-defined requirements with clearly defined business cases in order to support the standardization of practices across Transmission at National Grid.
Identifies, investigates and qualifies approved manufacturers of equipment and monitors their performance, reliability, service, representation and contribution to the industry.
Investigate equipment problems and failures with manufacturer and vendors with recommendation based on investigative results for corrective and preventative actions and or procurement of new equipment and materialsInvestigate the adoption of new and innovative technologies.
Perform audits of post construction, engineering and design work to ensure deliverables adhere to department standards, procedures and guidelines.
Lead process improvement efforts within the Transmission Engineering departmentInvestigate new tools and equipment which provide enhanced ergonomics, safety or efficiency; provide specification and direction to procurement for successful on-boarding.
Support all request for incident analysis (IA's) as Team Member and complete action items assigned.
Promote a strong safety culture through leadership and being the ambassador of adhering to company procedures, safety rules and work practices.
Review, revise and develop electrical operating procedures (EOP) for the construction, maintenance or operating the electrical system as scheduled, incident or mandated through regulation by working closely with safety, training, environmental, construction standards, and operational interests.
Chair/participate in union/management committees on operational issues, equipment, tool, vehicle, and safety.
Develop high level plans and champion consistent standards of working through the use of pilots, in conjunction with business partners and service providers in order to test their validity across the business.
Respond to and provide necessary support during local/system/mutual assistance emergencies.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience RequiredAble to motivate, counsel, coach, and develop direct reports and others.
Experience establishing clearly defined goals and standards of employee performance.
QualificationsA Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school.
10 or more years professional experience in an engineering field, preferably transmission engineering.
Registered Professional Engineering License and/or advanced technical or business degree.
Completion of a Master's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an ABET accredited engineering school.
Experience with transmission design software including:
PLS CADD, PLS POLE, and MFADStrong working knowledge of industry standards, safety standards, and current design codes, especially the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
Proficient Microsoft Office computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of National Grid's business operations.
Knowledge of relevant industry practice, standards and legislation including technical advancements.
Valid Driver's License required.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
